FAQ – Students

FAQ 1 – Is it necessary to do a simulation of the assessment?

YES. It is essential that the student is familiarized with the platform where he will be evaluated, namely, how to answer questions, how to submit, etc., see Evaluation Planning section and the pages of the available platforms (for example, ExonlineX, Fenix Worksheets, QUIZZES, Google Classroom, Socrative).

FAQ 2 – What if I am unable to submit the test or parts of the test?

It is essential to have a proof of the system failure (platform, internet, etc.), such as a photograph showing the problem you are suffering and to send it by e-mail or through any other means of communication established by the teacher, during the assessment. See Evaluation Planning and Code of Honor.

FAQ 3 – How do the proofing reviews take place?

The proofreading should be done in a Zoom session, using the Waiting Room functionality for students who are not currently reviewing their proof. See the recommendations in the Assessment Proofreading.

FAQ 4 – How do I activate my Google account?

Instructions for activating your Google account are available on the IT website.

FAQ 5 – How do I contact the teacher during an assessment?

The teacher should provide information on how to contact during the assessment, preferably via Zoom in order to be available if necessary. The contact with the teacher must always be in private to not disturb the other students who will be taking the assessment.

FAQ 6 – How do I safeguard internal server problems so that they do not affect the duration of my assessment?

If the platform has a computer problem, it is necessary to contact the teacher as soon as possible (email or through any other means of communication established by the teacher) to allow the teacher to adjust the time or the assessment method. See Planning and Code of Honor.

FAQ 7 – I have an unstable internet at home, does it make it impossible for me to take the exam?

Most platforms are prepared to be used in various browsers, and in different devices (Smartphones, Tablets, etc.) as such, it is possible to use mobile data. If the problem is with Wi-fi, in particular, there is always the possibility of using a network cable.

If a student does not have the conditions to carry out the assessment in accordance with the requirements of the UC, he/she may exceptionally request the test to be carried out at Técnico’s facilities (space and broadband availability), ensuring the appropriate security conditions recommended by the DGS. Técnico services will try to respond as soon as possible in order to confirm the possibility of satisfying the request. For this purpose, the student must send an email with a minimum of 7 days prior to the date of the assessment, fill the form and send to cp.exames@tecnico.ulisboa.pt.

In the event that it is not possible to ensure that the test is carried out at the Técnico’s premises (in particular, as it is not possible to ensure the requirements of the UC) the student should contact the teacher, who should ensure that the evaluation is carried out through an alternative method of evaluation. (for example, an oral assessment).

FAQ 8 – How to proceed if I have internet connection problems during the assessment?

It is essential to have a proof of the system failure (platform, internet, etc.), such as a photograph showing the problem you are suffering and to send it by e-mail or through any other means of communication established by the teacher, during the assessment. See Evaluation Planning and Code of Honor.

FAQ 9 – Can my assessment (written or oral) can be recorded?

The recording of the students’ assessment (written or oral) cannot be made, according to the Guidelines on distance assessment in higher education establishments (in Portuguese) of the Portuguese Data Protection Authority which states in point 2: “… if unnecessary, or at least excessive, the recording of images and sound during the assessment (oral and, obviously, written), it is up to the responsible person to adopt the appropriate measures to prevent recording; this is justified to prevent reuse improper use of the recordings.”, it is understood that the responsible person for the treatment to be adopted is the responsible for the UC.

FAQ 10 – How can I digitalized my answers to an assessment?

The Useful tools section have available several options.
